Intervals and Nike Free

You know, intervals is the shit. I'm a bit perplexed that only two interval sessions have made such a difference already. Yesterday I ran 1 mile (metric) at just over 53 minutes and a week earlier I did it at 59:44. Just crazy. So that's why I believe there is something wrong with the treadmill.

...But I still think it calls for some sort of celebration, so that's why these goodies from Nike are on their way home. =D

Under Armour - motivational

What do you do to find motivation?

For me? First I go to the gym and get results and later on I make a click, click, click and order. And then repeat. =P

Work it out - having a knee injury

As some of you might remember, I had a knee injury last summer and I still have a "broken knee", since I've decided not to go through with an op. The problem is that my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is completely torn, as it turned out 6 weeks after the incident...

The doc couldn't identify the problem or if something was broken  - and he had about 10 minutes to do so when I visited - so I was instructed to seek out a physiotherapist "when things gotten better". The latter could tell me, within 10 seconds of examining the knee, that the ACL was torn completely.

Resulting in anxiety, wondering if I could ever do the things I loved again, I was presented with two options: do the op and not knowing if any complications arise, or not do the op and restrict what I can do with the knee; i.e. not be able to go skiing or playing soccer full speed. Not that I would do that anyway, so I've decided to opt for the less dramatic choice since my goals are:
  • Be able to lift weights at the gym
  • Be able to run (including long distances, intervals, terrain etc)

...And the progress?

Well, I've reach some of them:

  • Lifting weights to ensure stability in the joint and build up for the loss of muscle mass
  • Being able to run  - at all - on treadmill
  • Being able to run 3 times a week - starting at 10 minutes
  • Being able to run (non stop) at least 45 minutes
  • Being able to run a mile (the metric system that is, for english it's about 6,2 miles)
  • Starting interval training 3-4 sets á 4 min at 85% of HRmax - did today...almost. =D

Left to be done:

  • Intervals 6-8 set as above and go through a test used by PT for soccer players
  • Terrain including long distance
  • See if the knee holds together...otherwise there will be an operation...

H&M Sport Collection 2014

Photos: H&M

Sorry for bad blogging again. Soo much to do, so little time...

Have you seen the new sport collection that H&M will release in January next year? I'd like to have all of the items in the first pic and I love the green colour on the singlet in the second one. It'll be very exciting next month, but I for sure will be wondering about the quality. Even though it is said to be designed and executed together with top athletes from the Swedish Olympic Team.

Reached my first milestone!

Yes! Today I finally went below 60 and I'm so motivated right now! The difference between these pics are:

  • -4,3 kg
  • -7 cm in waist measurement and
  • a total of -18 cm for all the body measurements put together

But since the knee injury in July, I don't really have much of a choice. I need to of make the most out of the situation regarding my knee (most likely complete rupture of the ALC [anterior cruciate ligament] and possible injured meniscus). Therefore I need to build more leg muscles to be in the best state before an operation.

Another piece of the puzzle is of course the practice of the 5:2 intermittent fasting.

Next time I post on this topic, it'll be when I've reach my goal - see you in 2-3 kg! ;)

5 : 2 - Intermittent Fasting

Ever heard of it? :)

Anyways, I'd see the Eat, fast and live longer documentary when it aired here in Sweden earlier this spring. The main thing that I really got hooked on was the possibility for the brain to learn to make new interconnections between the cells and therefore you may learn your brain to think in new different ways. Even if that is possible or not with intermittent fasting, the other health benefits makes it worthwhile. I mean, who doesn't want a longer life or less risk of cancer or diabetes?

Intermittent fasting isn't a new thing...it has been around for some time...And yes I've tried it before, but only for a short while and just as part of pre-competition diet and regime.

So now I'm actually on my second week of 5:2 and it feels quite easy having the fast days already.  If you have any questions on how I'm doing the fasting, please feel free to ask me any question.

You remember?

Sooo... I'm kinda halfway through my "10 weeks till Verona"-challenge-myself-thingy and I have some good news.

Or rather first bad news and then good news. Because I went up a couple of kilos, but now I've lost 3 kg and are weightwise also halfway through. Yaay! Hmm the spelling wants me to write "Ya ay", "Ya-ay" or "ayala" instead...Always so weird.

Aaanyways...I'm tired. And gonna get slacker mood on. So here is some random pic and see ya later!

Update work out status

6 days ago I injured my knee when playing soccer and tomorrow I'll see the doctor since the extension and flex of the joint isn't that much better. Even if I know it'll take maybe 6-8 weeks to completely recover (if the ligament aren't worse than I think) I'd hope that it would have become better as of today.

Still, I can do upper body workout and take short walks, but that's it and it's something anyway.

I believe it's the LCL that has been traumatized in some way, but we'll see tomorrow...

10 weeks til Verona

Last time I did plan to get into shape was in March, but for several reasons didn't and now I'm on it again. The schedule is very simple: 3 times strength and 1-3 times running.

Starting at 61,8 kg and goal same as before (57-58 kg).

Compression tights

I'm looking for a new pair of compression tight. Currently I'm using Under Armour HeatGear Compression Tights. I'm running 3-6 times a week and a must is a spare tight but also I feel that there need to be something better out there? My question is simple: What brand has the best compression clothes (tights)? I know many talk about 2XU, is it worth trying?

Abs mission - let's do this!

My mission is simple: 8 weeks and I'll get into shape.

I haven't really been working out consistently for about 3-4 years now and the results you can see above. Lost about 4-5 kilos of muscle mass, but since I'm more interested in running, functional training and strength nowadays I don't really mind.

8 weeks and we'll see if I have a six pack left...Starting at 62,5 kg. My intention is to drop down to 57-58 kg (last time I weighed that little was in 2006!).

Project NYC Body - get in shape

Ok, here it is. I have 8 weeks to get in shape.

Tomorrow I'll start with the weigh in, measurements and taking before pics, to get my current status. Unfortunately I can't show you pics of my earlier more fit status, since my external hard drive got corrupted (and I haven't bothered to do anything about it...). Anyhow. Tomorrow I'll update with what I'm gonna start with. Until then, some motivation.

The gap?! What da...

When I was in 6th grade (or something like that), there was this one girl in class that always went on and on about her body and especially how important it was to have a thigh gap. I never understood that and probably never will...Looking at the net (Instagram etc) it sometimes seems that the gap is having a comeback? Or is this only still present if you are like 14?

It's up to you.

It's on!

Delmål är redan avklarat förra året. Mätning och vägning är avklarad. Mål är satt. Jämförelsebilder ska tas under tiden. Nu ska det mejslas.

Årets första jogg/löprunda

Premiär i spåret! Det gick väl både bra och sådär. Över förväntan men endast intervallbaserat.
